We've all seen a sci-fi movie about an alien race with advanced technology. Some notable examples are Star-Trek, Star Wars, Avatar, and John Carter. So why watch another one? The movie Jupiter Ascending is about this princess whose is queen of an alien race that doesn't know who she is. It shows her tragedies and victories. It shows an incredible array of alien technology that is impressive. It is action packed and there does not seem to be a single boring second in the whole movie. I suggest you watch it. I sure will as soon as it comes out. Check out the movie trailer below.
This past weekend, we had our first STN Practice. I thought that our team did very well. We get along and finished on time. I do think that our idea could have used a little work. Other than that, I think that our STN Practice was great!
The first reason that I think that our first STN practice was great was because our team got along great. All five of us were friends before we started so it was really easy to get along. Nobody wanted to control the whole thing and every body was open to other teammates discussion. Even though it would of been easy to just goof off because we were friends, we all stayed on track to get our work finished.
We also finished on time. This might largely have been because of the first reason. We all worked together and that greatly increased the efficiency of the team. Some team members were even asking what they could do to help out even more. It stunned me how fast we were getting production done. Editing also went by smoothly. Dalson was the other editor with me and we both worked together to get it done quickly. I thought that the editing was fine. The only challenge that we had was the computer froze during exporting, but that got resolved quickly enough.
The only issue that we had was our idea was not top notch. It was hard coming up with a movie trailer idea for the topic the good lie. We thought about it for about forty minutes with everybody throwing in ideas but nobody really totally agreeing with them. Time was running by and we finally settled with an idea. It sounded pretty good, but it didn't really make that much sense. Next time, we will know more about what we should do so our idea will be better.
In conclusion, our first STN Practice was great. We had no team issues and we met the deadline. We could improve on the story of the movie trailer, but other than that, it was good. I can't wait till the next practice.
In the second quarter, I made a list of three things that I would improve on in the upcoming quarter. Well that quarter is done, so I'm going to recount my goals and whether or not I achieved them and substitute all the met ones to keep on improving. My three goals were to learn how to make an opening, improve the quality of the b-roll, and shorten the video this time. I felt that I have made two of these three goals.
In second quarter, I learned how to make an opening, which was one of my goals. This is not particularly a difficult thing to do, it was just trying to find the time to do it and remembering. When projects come a long, you start focusing on those, and when you get to school, you forget that you were going to learn how to create an opening. I finally remembered and came in at morning recess, where a few of my classmates helped me out in creating an opening. The new goal that I would like to put in its place is being a finalist in the Olelo Youth X-Change. This is a pretty huge goal and I really hope to achieve it.
My next goal was to improve the quality of our b-roll. I think that we did improve the b-roll from last quarter. I think that our b-roll did get better, but there is still a lot of things that we could have improved, so for that, I'm going to keep this goal up here. Our shots were not out of focus this time, because most of our targets were not moving like the birds.
The third and final goal was to make this time limit. We did, so I am really proud of that one. Our video was actually about a minute forty five over, so Carter and I did some serious shortening. The goal that I would replace that one with is the goal to produce a great movie trailer by the end of our forth practice session. STN is coming soon so it is good to set your sights already.
These were my goals from second quarter. I have met most of them and hope to continuously improve. My old goals were to learn to make an opening, shoot better b-roll, and shorten the video. The two new goals are to have an excellent movie trailer for STN and to be a finalist for Olelo. I hope that I continue to meet goals so this quarter will be a great one.
